Small but Mighty, The Sarkis Story

In 1985, a small café opened inside a fitness center in Rochester, NY. As unimpressionable as this café was from the outside, the inside held the secret that led this little café to become an instant hit.

One of the fans was a corporate giant from Baush and Lomb. Impressed by the food and the service, at his request, this café began to cater the in service flights for his corporation. During service, food was served in unique and intersting ways, garnished with freshest of ingredents and prepared to perfecion; so many personal touches (too many to list!) that no one had ever seen before! Without realizing it, this café set the “gold standard” for all caterers.

It wasn’t long before there was a request for catering from the three biggest corporations in Rochester, and the realization that a small operation would no longer fit the bill. Necessary adjustments were made and Sarkis Caterers was officially born. In addition to corporate events, Sarkis also became the sole caterer for the University of Rochester, including the college students. Sarkis continued to use the same basic components it did on the corporate flights, but added the latest nutritional requirements along with food innovation and design.

After a successful six years in business, the country was hit with the most massive terrorist attack on US Soil that it had ever seen. American business had to return to basics and corporate catering was cut. Instead of folding like many had to do, Sarkis began to think “outside of the box” and turned their attention in an entirely different direction: childcare.

Today, along with their booming private and corporte catering business {such as weddings, gradations, hordv's receptions, birthdays, anniversarys, non-for-profit catering, ect.), Sarkis Caterers feeds 2500 children daily with clients such as ABC Head Start, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The Greater Rochester YMCA, and several area charter schools throughout the Rochester Community. Sarkis is proud to be the leader in childcare catering; setting the bar high that all other companies could only hope to attain. We pride ourselves on serving large quantities of fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, and a wide variety of home-cooked meals; teaching childen that a well balanced diet is the corner stone to living a healthy and successful life!  We look forward to adding doubling tat business during 2011 - 2012!

The road for Sarkis has been challenging, but with our continued passion, dedication, and, thought for the littlest client, a cut above the rest is not just our motto, it is our life.
